Things You'll Need:
- Screw driver(s) with various head sizes
- Laptop User Manual
- Step 1
Identify the issue. Do not attempt a repair if you are not sure what the problem is. If possible, make sure you know which piece is broken before opening your machine.
- Step 2
Locate the user manual for your specific laptop model. Look in your computer's retail box. The manuals also can found free on the Internet because manufacturers have provided the manuals to avoid costly customer service calls. Just query for "your model name + user manual" on the Google search engine.
- Step 3
Turn off your computer because you are dealing with hardware powered by a live electric current, which is dangerous.
- Step 4
Use your manual to learn how to open your laptop case. In most cases, internal parts are underneath the keyboard, so you will need to slide out the keyboard.
- Step 5
Re-align and or replace broken parts according to manual instructions. You may need to remove devices that are installed above your target. Make sure you do not lose any small parts such as screws. These parts will be difficult to find if you misplace them.
- Step 6
Replace all parts in the correct order as instructed in your user manual. Make sure nothing is left over when you close your laptop's outside case.
